Don't remember ever having so many young guys out on loan, are we happy that its good for their development or a little disappointed they aren't getting a sniff at McDiarmid?

Struggling to keep up with them all so thought we could start a list here for easy reference, lots of teams to keep an eye on on a Saturday afternoon.

Scott Brown (Dumbarton)

Gareth Rodger (Ballymena)

Hurst, Gordon and Hunter (Elgin)

Where are the other boys?

Loans out;

Mark Hurst (Goalkeeper) , Liam Gordon (Centre back) and George Hunter (Striker) - Elgin City until January 2016. Elgin just beat Alloa 2-0 away last night in the challenge cup with both Hurst and Gordon featuring. Hunter is having to make do with sub appearances so far. Elgin seem to be flying, with a couple of big wins away to Arbroath and at home this weekend along with that win against Alloa.

Ally Gilchrist (Defender) - Peterhead until January. Doing well too. Played 90 minutes in a 4-0 win away to Stranraer and a 5-3 away win against Falkirk.

Jason Kerr (Defender) - East Fife until January. Played 90 minutes in a 5-0 home win against Berwick at the weekend.

Jordan Millar (Goalkeeper) - Montrose until January. Playing regularly for Montrose.

Gareth Rodger (Defender) - Ballymena until January. still training full time with us, then going across to play every weekend.

Scott Brown (Midfield) - Dumbarton until January.

I'd expect most, if not all, may have their loans extended if they do well.

I think it's great that most of them are getting a game at a decent level. None of the players who have gone out would be in the 1st 11, or (apart from Brown) on the bench.

the rodgers one is weird. always feel for a manager who doesnt get his players to train midweek and then there just expected to magically gel into the 1st team

Maybe a money thing. Might not be able to afford to pay for digs, travel etc, as well as contributing to actually paying for the player.

TW doing a favour for his home town club, and giving Gareth game time, within a couple of weeks if it is working out Rodgers will be shacking up over there  and training with them as the team spirit builds up, again don't think Garth will get his chance with us, BUT WE MAY GET COMPO IF SOMEONE WANTS TO SIGN HIM AND AS LONG AS WE OFFER HIM A CONTRACT WE ARE ENTITLED TO IT. "wood from the trees" mentality.

Don't think I would want Compo at Saints tbh, he's lost at least a yard of pace over the last few seasons.

Mark Hurst, Liam Gordon and Connor McLaren all started for Elgin in their 1-1 draw away to Annan Athletic today, McLaren was taken off after 70 minutes.

Jason Kerr started for East Fife in a 4-1 victory over Montrose. Not sure why Jordan Millar wasnt starting in goals for Montrose? Possibly an injury

Kyle Lander started and played 70 minutes for Stirling in their 2-1 loss to Queens Park.

George Hunter started for Airdrie in a 1-1 draw away to Dunfermline. He scored after 18 minutes before being brought off just after the hour. Fans were stating he was making intelligent runs behind the defence and deserved his goal, apparently a tidy finish when put through on goal.

Scott Brown (and Fraz) played the full 90 in Dumbartons 1-0 loss away to Raith Rovers. Their fans were stating Brown was excellent in the midfield defensively, but maybe wasnt offering much going forward. Raith fans even highlighted him as being a standout in the midfield.

Gareth Rodger wasnt involved at all for Ballymena, which suggest either an injury or him being kept with our squad. Not sure whats happened there either.

Liam Gordon started and played the 90 mins in Elgins 1-1 draw with Clyde, Connor McLaren was given the last ten minutes.

Jason Kerr started for East Fife, and Kyle Lander for Stirling, in the 1-1 draw between the sides. Lander was subbed off after 70 minutes.

Jordan Millar played the 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet for Montrose in their 1-0 win over Queens Park.

George Hunter played 73 minutes for Airdrie in their 1-0 loss to Stranraer. Apparently the whole team was poor.

Scott Brown played 90 minutes for Dumbarton in their 2-1 win over Livingston. Was seemingly very impressive again in the midfield. Fraz also played the full match, and seemingly wound up a Livi striker so much they got sent off...

Gareth Rodger played 90 mins for Ballymena in their 4-2 defeat to Crusaders.

The poster on here called fraudman has just informed me that Ally Gilchrist has been playing regularly for Peterhead this season, and was voted Mom for them in their 2-2 draw with Forfar today.

So cheers fraudman! Another player to keep track of

I  was speaking to AG's dad a couple of weeks ago. He is pleased with his lads progress out on loan

Got a couple of fans opinions on some of the players on loan, hard to get opinions on some at the smaller sides tbh, the likes of Stirling and Elgin dont really have too many fans willing to share.

Montrose did though, and heres what he said about Jordan Millar...

Millar was excellent. To be put right into the team after being out for 4 weeks shows the confidence the coaching staff have in him. Matty and Steeves were really good and they seem to have that understanding. Millar had some amazing saves in the last 10 mins

A couple of Dumbarton fans also shared their opinions on Scott Brown...

Browns getting better each game in my opinion, maybe not as good on Saturday but there wasn't many who were standing out.

He's been solid and a valuable member of the team without being a 'standout' if that makes sense.

He's improving though with every game and he looks as if he could, with game time and the right coaching, have the ability to make the step up to SPL level at some point.

Ally Gilchrist, on loan at Peterhead, is looking forward to the Challenge Cup last four draw after the Blue Toon defeated Stenhousemuir.
