tucker 191 Report post Posted August 4, 2020 Good luck to the lads first home game of the season hopefully have some of the injuries back fit, hopefully close to the same team, probably bringing in Conway for Mikey
Johnny B 227 Report post Posted August 5, 2020 I would like to see the same team with May in for MOH. I do not like a back 3 but if it is working no need to change it.

I was wondering the same or will they get dispensation to travel outside 5 mile limit because they are being tested twice a week.
templeofsaints 295 Report post Posted August 5, 2020 Apparently its ok as football players are tested regularly and are deemed to be in their own bubble.
garydavidson 1,577 Report post Posted August 5, 2020 Yeah more info on the BBC saying it will be fine: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53668239 "New lockdown restrictions imposed on the city of Aberdeen will not impact Aberdeen's Scottish Premiership visit to St Johnstone on Saturday. Footballers and club staff are tested regularly and can still travel. The SPFL has been told the fixture in Perth will go ahead as planned. Aberdeen are scheduled to host Hamilton at Pittodrie next Wednesday and, as things stand, that game is also unaffected. On Tuesday, it was announced that there were no positive results from the latest round of coronavirus testing among Scottish clubs."
south inch 865 Report post Posted August 5, 2020 Lets wait and see, if tomorrow's infection figures are still climbing the lockdown could be tightened further. Getting the schools open is the priority not getting football matches played as per the fixture list.

ss75990 44 Report post Posted August 5, 2020 I would like to see Rooney play at some point as got great reviews from last season at Inverness. But thought McNamara was great at the weekend and deserves to keep his place against Aberdeen. Would bring May in for MOH and swap wings with Spoony

RandomGuy 3,137 Report post Posted August 5, 2020 (edited) Aberdeen pretty much exclusively play 4-2-3-1 so I cant imagine McInnes deviating. Think we'd be wise to put three CMs on the park for this one, as we cant give Aberdeen the freedom we gave United. 3-5-2 would do, don't think any of the injured players will be able to start by the sounds of it. Abernethy Saint 3,404 Report post Posted August 6, 2020 Could be aff. Aberdeen player testd positive.
Abernethy Saint 3,404 Report post Posted August 6, 2020 And it gets worse. Allegedly, and I stress that, 8 of the team were in an Aberdeen pub together on Saturday night. So much for the bubble. Don't want to get carried away, but this will invite speculation about how the match is dealt with, wider punishment for Aberdeen, and possible repercussions for the restart of football in general in Scotland. Or it might be nothing, and forgotten by Sunday. Enjoy.
Linky 128 Report post Posted August 6, 2020 Give us the three points. If one player tests positive, fine. If they were all out together at a pub on Saturday night, there needs to be punishment for that and giving the other team the points is the only way to keep clubs in order. Otherwise we could be in a position where some clubs will have played 4 or 5 games fewer than others halfway through the season if it keeps happening. It not only is an internal Scottish Government email but includes names of staff from within the Office. Edited August 6, 2020 by mainstand

If it does turn out that the match has to be postponed as a direct result of their staff breaking protocols, then there definitely should be some sort of sanctions imposed on them. LASK were deducted 6 points in the Austrian league for breaking rules regarding training during lockdown. I've also seen some suggest that the players involved should be given a ban of some sort. Giving the 3 points to Saints definitely seems like the best course of action to me though. 1 Cagerf reacted to this

If a number of players have a positive test due to breaking the rules, and the game has to be postponed, this is the only course of action that will stop it. bankfoot saint 246 Report post Posted August 6, 2020 Would think sky might have something to say about this as well, think the only option is to relegate Aberdeen and promote ICT in there place
Cagey 2,376 Report post Posted August 6, 2020 There should be some kind of punishment for Don's but it won't advantage Saints. Aberdeen deducted 3 points at worst. That way it helps the rest of the teams ,some of whom may end up above Aberdeen. Saints should be compensated in some way. Maybe a minibus. 2 templeofsaints and Cagerf reacted to this
