  2. Seething. Having said that, I don't think that we were quite as poor as some people are suggesting. It was certainly a different class of football match from the last game between these two sides. Both teams largely kept the ball on the deck and passed it well at times. However, that isn't enough to win a football match, even against Dundee. The formation was wrong, there was a lack of direct forward movement, and the attitude was disappointing at best. Steven MacLean said in his post-match interview, 'Perhaps we did the wrong thing at the end. We should have run the ball into the corner.' I totally disagree with him. There's no excuse for ever running the ball into the corner and attempting to waste time against a poor Dundee outfit, especially when they're one man short. What the team should have done, Steven, was try to actually add to their lead instead of passing the ball around in a totally cavalier and casual manner. Tade hasn't been at his best recently, but it became quite clear that the game was crying out for someone like him who actually runs forward with the ball and is direct in his play. He caused their defence problems as I expected he would. I'm fed up with this 'one up front' nonsense. No excuse for playing in such a manner against most SPL sides. Dundee deserved a draw over the piece and perhaps, considering the chances they had, even more than that. So, actually, we were probably as poor as some people are suggesting.

  7. Aye, play and you may lose. Don't, and you'll not... . And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from the 3rd March to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back to Guildtown and tell Ormond Saints that they may take our title, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM! The time is upon you WAPPERS to stand up and be counted. Who will bleed beside me on the field of battle as we once again plot the downfall of the tyrannical Ormond Saints in their own back yard? If you have the heart for the battle, then place your mark on this thread and dust down your weapons (yer boots and shinnies) and I shall call on you to take your place on the field and look the enemy in the eye.

  8. No more than expected, however... I've just had a quick read through but it seems to me that the prosecution [sFA/SFL] submitted a deliberately obscure watered down charge which may have left LNS no option when coming to a decision. "First of all, as a result of the way the Notice of Complaint was phrased, the Commission did not consider that Rangers had been properly “charged” with the offence of playing ineligible players in the period before 23rd May 2005. Accordingly it was only the period from that date which was considered". "The Commission has found Rangers Football Club PLC, (now RFC 2012 PLC) which is in liquidation and which the Commission referred to as “oldco” as will I, guilty on all four counts, namely three of breaching the rules regarding non-disclosure of information regarding payments to players, and the fourth of failing to co-operate with the SPL by providing information when requested to do so". [i.e. Destroying evidence by, shredding and burning of, which should have been available to present to the courts] The relevant rule as regards ineligible players states:- “Any Club playing an ineligible Player in an Official Match and the Player concerned shall be in breach of the Rules.” "The key to the Commission’s decision on this point, which in fact changes how the rules regarding registration were thought to act previously, comes from the evidence of the SFA Head of Registrations, Alexander Bryson". Aha! A change in the interpretation of the rules... what a surprise. He said that "Once a player had been registered with the SFA, he remained registered unless and until his registration was revoked". Therefore, according to this evidence, is it not correct that even if there had been a breach of the SFA registration procedures the registration of a player was not treated as being invalid from the outset, and stood unless and/or until it is revoked. So, have I got this right? Are they in fact saying that any club that has in the past been thrown out of a competition after having advanced and then shown to have fielded an ineligible player, can now appeal the decision? Because obviously if the player was registered at all with the SFA, by the new way of interpretation, it must have been valid until it was proved not to be so - and then revoked at a later dat. Surely not.

  11. SUNDAY LATEST Larky has come up trumps and pulled in a massive favour from his boss. We are being allowed to use two of the indoor changing rooms at Bells Sports Centre on Sunday. However, please respect the request of Lark's boss that no football boots are worn inside the reception area or any part of the sports centre. After the game, remove mud etc from your boots (and as much as possible from your kit) away from the entrance area to the reception. There is a charge of £1 per person for use of the changing & showers. I will collect this, along with whatever cost per head for the pitch and ref (will be no more than £5 each in total) prior to the game. Please ensure that you have money with you - change if possible. So, we shall now meet at 1215hrs @ Bells Sports Centre COYWAPPERS!!!!!

To be honest, if all the panel was deciding if Rangers broke rules by not declaring the EBTs to the SFA then I reckon the fine is about right....never mind it will never be paid. The club didn't gain an advantage by not declaring the 'side letters' to the SFA. The side letters would still have been there whether they were declared or not, so I agree its an administrative error, hence the fine. The bigger question is whether the EBTs should have been allowed in the first place. My understanding is the big tax case (currently under appeal) found they were ok to use....so I don't see where people think there is an issue of 'cheating'. IF the tax case had gone against them (or is turned on appeal etc) then THAT would be an issue to strip titles etc over.

  14. Last nights game was one game. Which we didnt lose. Saints are still right in the push for a good finish. Dundee were always going to be fired up last night and the players were playing for their derby spots as well. Lomas likes to try and outthink the other managers tactically and has his staff set up with Cleland up in the stand constantly relaying information back down to himself and Tommy Wright. It wont always work. Lomas aint Guardiola and we aint Barca. It was a real opportunity to move up the league but that chance hasnt gone. Right now we are winning or drawing games that previous Saints teams would have lost which is extremely positive. Mibbes some folk should play a bit less Football Manager

Oh great. dundee get a new manager boost against us & now Hearts. Are the gods against us ?. M Davidson on twitter saying he is shocked. Surely not Muzz, even though they have lost a lot of players they are a poor side.Maybe not the managers fault but he is the only one to get the blame. Thats a managers life & they know that when they take the job. Saw the game on Alba lat night & they are poor. New manager will give them a boot up the arse.

    Lomas Tenure Up?

I just don't get Liam playing on right hand side of midfield. It would work if he faced his man up and cut inside and moved forward, but he tends to turn towards the sideline, therefore resulting in him facing back towards his own goal.

  19. QPR fans are adament that out left is Vines best position, although he probably doesn't have the legs for 90 mins every week now. Right side is the issue. Who should be playing there? Craig out of position winnae work. What's happening with Maddison and Edwards?

Davidson is going. Where he ends up I'm not really bothered. He is a decent player but not what some folk think. If he played against us we know his weaknesses. He's been a little injury probe the last few months too. Drop him and Craig. Play players who wanna stay.

    Lomas Tenure Up?

Logged into thread "is Lomas's tenure up" Seems like this has been hijacked by spammers asking about.........spammers !!!!!!! Anyway let me be allowed to try to get this back on course . Have refrained from having a pop at Lomas until now in case I was missing something that he saw that i was not. What does he see by playing Liam out of position on the right wing. Liam has always been a fetch and carry left midfielder . Midge playing left midfield ? Fans crying out for subs. to bolster what could be seen as a creaking defence against 10 men. Brings Ando on, fair enough but puts Capt. Dave on right wing/midfield ? Sorry but don't think this was a game to be experimenting. When Ando came on it should have been to have three centre backs, as that's where the danger was all night and Capt. should have stayed in his position . Another bad result when hopes are high.

  24. Some more encouraging(ish) news MURRAY DAVIDSON has revealed he could still stay at St Johnstone despite having his heart set on a move to take his career to the next level. The Scotland international has not signed the new deal on offer in Perth and plans to leave at the end of the season under freedom of contract. The midfielder is keen for a fresh challenge but refuses to rule out prolonging his stint at Saints due to the loyalty the club have shown him. Davidson said: “I’ve said from day one it’s not about money. When I signed for St Johnstone there were other clubs involved, the likes of Dundee. “I could have gone elsewhere for more money but I felt at the time under Derek McInnes and Tony Docherty it was the right career move and I’ve developed massively as a player in the four years since. “I’m at the stage now to take it further and moving is what I have to do. But I’d never rule out staying here because St Johnstone have been good enough to make me a great offer “I’m grateful for that but I’m out of contract and want to go further in my career. At this stage it looks like I’ll be taking that next step. “But while I’m here I won’t rule anything out completely because Saints have been good to me and to do so would be disrespectful". Davidson has been grateful for the support of his manager, Steve Lomas, during this key period of his career. He added: “Steve has told me all along that he would only have a problem with me if my performances dropped “But hopefully my effort in the games I’ve played has been fine. “I’m the type who likes to get stuck in and I’ll keep giving my all between now and the end of the season. The manager has been very good. He says he understands my decision about wanting to further my career and there’s no problem in that regard. “There’s focus on my future but all I can do is concentrate on my performances because if I let them drop people won’t be talking about me in a positive way.” Davidson’s commitment to the cause ensures he is desperate for Saints to grab a European spot, regardless of whether he is there next term or not. The vice-captain is suspended for tonight’s clash at Dundee but will be in the stands hoping his colleagues can maintain their push. He said: “Our next three games are Dundee, Hearts and Kilmarnock. All are difficult but if we can pick up a decent return we should be good for the rest of the season. “There are probably six or seven teams who can finish in the top three to qualify for Europe, with just four or five points separating us all. “The sides who are most consistent between now and the end of the season will get the Euro spots and we can be among them. “If we can go on a wee run we’ll quickly move up the table and the next three matches will give us a better idea of a gap opening up. “It’s important for me and the team to finish well. I’ll be up there supporting the team, even though I get nervous watching because I want the boys to do well. I hate it but I’m vice-captain so I’ll go along to Dens and give the boys my support.”

Could I please ask that currently, while Jamie is trying to get the software update installed and working, that people refrain from reporting every piece of spam they find. This just adds to the work-load for Jamie and us mods. I, and the other mods, are popping on here whenever I/we can to try and keep things under control and I am sure Jamie is spending a lot more time on here than he would wish at present to keep on top of things. Cheers, TS.

  32. Incredible how little football we have between now and mid April. One Saturday fixture on March 9 then no game until April 1. And going by the way it normally works probably some strange kick off times for the last 5 games of the season. How can we get fans back into football when we are getting people interested and them leving such gaps between matches. Wednesday, 27 February 2013 - Dundee v Saints. Tuesday, 05 March 2013 - Hearts v Saints. Saturday, 09 March 2013 - Saints v Kilmarnock. Monday, 01 April 2013 - Saints v Dundee United. Friday, 05 April 2013 - Inverness Caledonian Thistle v Saints. 33. we should have a presence on advertising bill boards and those flag things that hand off lamp posts etc. not necessarilypromoting deals but letting people know this is your citys team. we can have all wonderful and innovative ideas under the sun but first and foremost we need to create a pride in our team within the city we need to get past the situation where you are mocked for supporting your home town team and where it is acceptable for to turn a saints game off in a perth pub. unfortunately it looks like results won't do it alone. unfortunately it seems to be a perth thing that anything from perth is not good enough for them

  34. The club are acutely aware of the deficiencies in the area of both PR and actual promotion of the club as a whole. They are actively trying to impliment plans to both encourage fans to return and to also improve communication but as is the case with many things in football at this time, lack of available finance is a huge part of the problem. There are sadly not enough hours in the day for those tasked with this to carry things forward at anything but a slow pace, given the other duties which they have to carry out. There is no money available to employ anyone full time to specifically deal with these things. What we really need is a full time Marketing manager who's remit would include community involvement partnerships( including school visits, town centre promotion on match day mornings and the like) , match day promotion and communication lines. Until such time as there are funds available for this, we the fans will have to both offer our assistance and also try to be patient. One of the ideas floated at the focus group meetings was a two monthly news letter which could be printed in volume and then delivered by volunteers to every household in the city ( and possibly beyond) This at least would get the pertinent information out to the masses and the costs would be small. What also need to be done is that all the ideas need to be looked at and the best few need to be cherry picked and refined, as the club cannot do everything and some of the ideas out there ( whilst understandable) are simply unachievable on the budget of a club like ours. For a very long time many of these issues have been left to stagnate and as such, revitalising them will take time. The club as we are all aware has through the Ormond Stand initiative, has already tried to address the dwindling support, but this is for the future and will not come to fruition for a good few years. I will see if I can get the club to set up a dedicated email address where , thoughts, ideas, complaints and offers of help can be sent and can be actively looked at and dealt with. I think that would be a good starting point. It's gonna be a long road but if we all try to pull together , I see no reason why we as a club cannot succeed in making the off-field side of the business as successful as the present on-field activities.
