Cup Winning Post Syndrome

Okay ten days in, How is your cup winning "post syndrome" affecting you and your family ????

My wife was just starting to get "pissed off" with my hours on the computer watching clips of pre match, actual game and post match over and over again. It has taken ten days for her patience but the cracking point came this morning when she was making breakfast and was humming....KC and the sunshine band song Give It Up... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psFQMKcsIF8.

I just smiled but then she started chasing me with a frying pan when she realised what she was humming.....

I've been told.."right, its all over"     Hopefully she meant the celebrations and not our marriage

My wife aid yesterday "you have thousands of music tracks. Yet for the last week you have only had a playlist of only five songs. Surely you know the words to Fair Maid now?"

Where can I get help?

Songs are

When the saints go marching in Louis Armstrong

Fair maid

Fair maid with commentary

Sweet Caroline

noel gallagher;'s "what a life" is the one that kicks in the emotions for me (played a few minutes before kick off when the atmosphere was electric)

Well in my present "post syndrom" situation, we need to change the lyrics to "what a life wife" and just keep my fingers crossed

Ive had some massive highs and some really low days since, last Wednesday was dire but bounced back on the Thursday!Strange really!Any one else up and down??and able to explain it?

Still feel a bit odd now and then.

Like it was a dream or didn't happen.

But it did, and we twirled our scarves, screamed, sang and shouted as it unfolded before our eyes.

Ando scored a carbon copy of the one three weeks prior and macca's celebration for the second was wonderful.

And we can get photos, videos, DVDs to sit and look at. We even held the trophy.

Decidedly strange though, for sure.

Who knows if this is the way you are supposed to feel, after the build up, the hopes and expectations of the day, the atmosphere at the ground followed by the massive rush of endorphins at the first goal, the period of nervous tension followed by the release and even bigger tsunami of endorphins at the second goal and the sudden realisation that after all this time we have done and we were there to witness it. It had just never happened before.

Combined with the mental, physical, stunned, drained exhaustion feeling on the journey back to Perth where the high of the party into the wee small hours hit again, a few hours sleep and then it all to live and go through again with the parade.

Jesus no wonder we all feel like this, I'm exhausted now re living it all again. Guess that's why druggies keep doing what they do and keep chasing that high when the low hits them. For me my songs have been

Lou Read - Perfect day (I'm glad I spent it with you (all 15,000 of you) )

M People - Proud

Elbow - One day like this

Just don't leave it too long before the next high please Saints

It was weird coming back in our bus!? Everyone was quiet!? Stunned I think! On the Sunday I must have bought every paper going just to make sure it had actually all happened!?

Never experienced anything like it!

Let's be honest it's a new experience for us Saints fans...no one knows how to react

I always believe that the build up is better than the actual game or moment and then the post feelings become great again. The build up from the people of Perth, Perthshire and beyond was truly fantastic. I arrived in Perth on the Thursday on the back of all the shop displays already in place. I walked around most of the town on the Friday morning and was amazed at all the shops from Craigie Chippie, down st Leonards street, south street, methven street (north and south), kinoull street back down south street. I was in tears at one point (this is before the pub opened). Of course beer goggles were on and mates from years back were met long before meeting at the barossa club. That was fantastic. But after the game and walking away out of the ground, there was a real null feeling for a while. Only when getting off the train at Argyle Street and glaswegians coming up shaking my hand and congratulating me did I then have another surge of excitement. Then meeting up with saints fans and new friends that I had met that morning did I start to then celebrate properly. Highlight of my day was heading off from Time Square with my two boys to the stadium on the train. But second highlight was meeting the likes of Baby Chunder, RwandaSaint, Sixties Saint, TeamWork, Steve(stv), EssexSaint, John D  and many many others in the pub once it had sunk in. I am 50 next week but when I looked around at all the young lads supporting saints, it made me feel proud and good that the same deep feeling will continue with the generation before me.

Happy days meeting you too Athens and the couple who use to live in Benfleet and supports saints..which was random but brilliant!

I recently moved house in essex and currently gearing up my garage to have a saints wall with all my cup final memories on it. Yes, the wife is already pissed off with me going on about it hence why the wall will be in my garage along with the hidden 1990's porno mags and obilgitory power tools to prove my manliness. This isn't helped with me now going to the scotland game tonight..she is turning anti football....what can I do? If only TW was able to give me advice and tell me it will be alright. Humph!
