nips
Have they re-applied for planning permission at the Blockbuster site? They've tried before but were knocked back.
Gussie
Subway was a big thing in the 90s. Had to cut back after too rapid expansion in 00's. Now back, but like Nando's a definite yes/no sort of place to go to.

Now back, but like Nando's a definite yes/no sort of place to go to. nandos/subway? bland bland food, hardly better than McD's. Wouldnt it be nice if Perth had a really nice, locally sourced sandwich shop - given the agriculture around the town it wouldnt be hard to get the ingredients. Selling kids a foot long loaf of bread with sugar/salt loaded fillings isnt really 21st century Saintdunc
craiginasaintsstrip
Subway is really good and the people who knock it are the sort who join every pitchfork wielding, torch throwing attempt to disregard anything they are unfamiliar with. Saintdunc
Bulls**t. There are much better sandwich shops around that will charge half the price. Good if the choice is between a Big Mac and a Sub!

Edstar101
I like Subway for what it is.....decent lunch deal. nice selection of breads and the salad is always fresh. Like all these big chains though, you will find that the quality may dip in the odd franchaise. Re Gussie's point, I'm sure I read that at one point they had more outlets than McDonalds

Selling kids a foot long loaf of bread with sugar/salt loaded fillings isnt really 21st century There are/have been several really good sandwich shops in Perth, but being Indies without the backing of massive advertising budgets they don't get the business to keep them going ling term. Steve Zissou
I quite like Subway, but i don't understand why people get so excited about them. Same goes for nando's Regarding local businesses, I think Delicious in South methven st is still going and has always been pretty popular. I've also heard Duo in princes St do a pretty good sandwich deal at lunchtime. gertiesaints
HOODLUM65
Heard Delicious do a good sanny and never realised that Duo was in Princes St. till the other day. Its a case of give the punters what they want (i.e. value for money ) and they'll get the trade. Reckon that Subway will do o.k.
mainstand
They are starting to put them in petrol stations now Broxden and at Airth next to brewsters. They actually do lovely salads aswell for those that don't want the sandwich .

SlickDT
Subway is ok- but Duo on Princess Street make AMAZING sandwiches. Their own homemade bread is fantastic and they don't go cheap on fillings. Best in town. Oldermoresensiblepack
nips
There was one on High st for a while. Cant remember name, but it wasn't great Baguette Express I think you're meaning, which is another franchise/chain. There's a braw wee independent cafe/sandwich shop on the same street as the Ship Inn - can't remember it's name though. The one up at Letham shops is also very good and seems to do pretty good trade.
