The clubs that signed our players managed to do contracts late in the day. Maybe if we weren't so amateurish behind the scenes and didn't rely on a skeleton staff and volunteers. Maybe if we actually had a recruitment policy that wasn't us developing players for other clubs.

Our captain has been replaced by a 20 year old that has played 0 senior games.

Gilmour? How many minutes has he played?

St Mirren played a CB in midfield on Saturday rather than start McPherson.

The chairman has moaned since he came in about poor season ticket sales. Gets a massive increase this year and this is how he responds?

Disgusting.

Cant disagree with anything you have said.

Ok, so I fully expected a few players to leave window. However, this looks like we were in a panic at not having sold them yet, so just let them go at cut price.

We’ve replaced them with young loanees who would be fine as back-up, but not first-team players. There are decent enough players out there. If we’d have signed Drey Wright and Scott Allen, who I know Hibs were trying to get rid of, then at least we’d have some reinforcements.

I said after the LASK game, I really fear for how this season will progress. Once again we’ve failed to capitalise on success and actually start building something. Instead, we’ve sold on the cheap and brought it short-term replacements.

Looking at the squad, and how we’ve started the season, I can’t help but think we’ll struggle. 8th or 9th finish this season, and back to square one.

I can understand these loans if the players involved are in effect up for sale and we in effect have them on trial until their contracts end, or we make some sort of nominal offer for them.

Not sure that is the case with the likes of Dendonker, Muller and Devine.

Having started the season thinking we are one decent striker away from being a very good side, now I'm afraid we are in a difficult position trying to bed in a lot of short term fixes and can only hope they will be well drilled in the break or the Rangers game could be quite painful to watch.

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath and calm down.

It's sad to see two of our best players leave but we all knew this day was coming. I agree it's below our valuation of what we think  McCann is worth but potential 2 mill in today's market is a huge figure for a club our size. Jason has been a great servant to the club and will always be a legend here; when he pulls on that Scotland Jersey I'll be proud because he will always be a Saint to me. If we could pay the wages theses lads are being offered down south they might have signed another contract.

We have a had an amazing succesful period and it's great to see more fans coming in but when the 8000/ 9000 who turned up to the Euro games start attending regularly to see a league match we can start adjusting our ambitions accordingly.

Whether we like it or not we are a selling club and are the envy of every team in Scotland regarding our prudent management and fiscal policy.

There will be another Kerr and McCann and hopefully soon. I'd like to thank both of these young men for giving me some great entertainment over the past few years and wish them all the best for the future.

We still have a great side and adjusting to losing players because of injury or otherwise is part and parcel of the game. We will continue to be successful because we are who we are are.

As if things couldn’t get any worse this entire time I’ve been confusing Ali Crawford with Greg Doherty. I thought we’d signed the wee guy who played for Rangers and did well on loan at Hibs.

Upon googling Ali Crawford I now very much understand the underwhelming reaction to this signing.

Apparently we're meant to be "thrilled" and "excited".

I actually feel sorry for the 3 that've come in. Not meant as disrespect to them, it's aimed at the club.

Do we have a great team? I'm not convinced. I reckon we're looking at 9th, and that's me being positive.

Even with Kerr & McCann, we were a stuttering draw specialist. I hardly see how the team has suddenly morphed into a great team.

Okay, yes we will take it on the chin... but, to my understanding, this is not a deal which I can see a whole lot of upside. We didn't need to do it.

Now, this season we might as well all sit back, take valium & wake up in June 2022. Hopefully still in the Premier, and wondering... "Did we really, really need to write off a season"???

Its not losing players as much or even the fee but the lack of foresight to get replacements lined up and signed is very disappointing.

Exactly! If it was the same fee for McCann in the summer... Okay, low. But for a last minute smash & grab, you'd expect a really meaty offer- bordering on ridiculous. What've we got? A squad with band aids.

And a chairman that somehow thinks it's "an exceptional deal".

For Preston, yes.

Exactly, we were always going to lose players & should have had replacements in place. If we didn't lose any players in this window we definitely would have in January.

The players we should have brought in might also have helped in Europe where we played the same 13/14 players in 4 tough games plus a couple of important premiership games.

Anyone else think Saints were waiting for the work permit to be finalised before announcing the Finn, but have made the official statement in panic to try and counter the negative bombardment about McCann and Kerr. Expect the photo was taken a while ago!

Worry is that it could still go tits up.

It’s exactly what’s happened. Firefighting in the extreme.

A chairman with balls speaks to the players "tell your agents there will be no dead line transfers" "We need at least 24 hours to find a replacement"  "If you want to leave get it done before dead line dsy or you are staying" Our chairman give me the money to hell with team and the supporters. The money is more important.

Football just does not work like that.

Deadline day is always a clusterf*ck for most clubs. You also have to factor in our European situation this season. Most players were open to staying until the LASK result, I’d wager.

Seems only Man City and PSG have the finance to behave like that now, and they’re owned by States.
