I can't be bothered reading all the posts I've missed on this thread. I feel tired and dejected but so what it was ever this. But great to read how much the players cared about the result; Ando compared it to losing out on promotion at Hamilton (and I think i felt this way that day too). Whether they played well or not, they all played with heart and effort. Dejected or not it's great to be a Saints supporter; always was and always will be!

Yeah, going by last week he made a big difference in Belarus. Felt he was a bit off the pace when he came on against Hearts though.

He was, but also the game kind of passed him by when he came on.

We know what he is capable of though and hopefully he will get back up to speed soon

Gutted.

Great crowd.

Couple of things though. Chris Millar had a stinker when he came on - and also I don't think there is space for him in the team when Cregg and McDonald are centre mid - Millar is NOT a winger. Also neither of the 3 of them are goal scorers so we have basicallly have a no scoring midfield.

Muzz would have made a difference in that game. He was in the Muiton Suite after the game and I think i heard him say he was sick yesterday afternoon and was ruled out - christ we missed him.

Off day for the strikers and yeah should have had Fallon on earlier - we can't keep hoofing it up to Nigel and Stevie May when they are both 5 feet tall (sic).

Think many people thought we had that won already and it will be a good lesson for some fans to appreciate what happened over the last couple of weeks - get behind the flippin team.

Keep the faith.

You all went to bed absolutely gutted. You woke up feeling gutted. You read the papers, news, internet reports and felt even more gutted.

How Gutted are you going to feel when they draw Fiorentina or Spurs this afternoon.

I would plan your day not being far from alcohol or a big bosum to cry on

Where to start. One of the most cynical teams I've ever seen. Clattering our forwards every time they got the ball, given how many yellows were dished I can't fathom why nobody got two. The ref needed to be harder on them as they were frustrating the game. Feigning head injuries to get the game stopped, then sprinting round to the half way line like Usain Bolt to get back on. As for that wee 21, their striker, he was the dirtiest of them all and I don't think he got carded.

Tommy, you need to give all our players a days worth of free kick practice. Any who can't get it on goal, fine them a tenner for charity. Repeat until one or two can get the ball round/over the wall and on target EVERY time. The make them the designated deal ball specialist. Next, crosses.

In the second half when they got on top all their action was down the right flank. Scobbie was exposed with no-one tracking back with their full back and when their central midfielder piled down the right I was shittin bricks knowing the goal would come. When it did we raised our urgency a bit but they had parked the bus by then. We need more intelligent running the channels and diagonals from our forwards and to develop some midfielders who can play the ball forwards into the space thus created.

Fitness I think was less of an issue except for a couple of players who were on their knees after 60mins. I felt that big Fallon was needed earlier to get stuck into their agricultural centre backs and when he came on he won everything in the air. I don't think McLean is suited to the long ball game, especially against a physically strong team, he's better playing it on the deck.

Finally penalties. Missing three out of five is not good. Practice required, but well done to Mannis saving two.

Overall a great learning experience both for Tommy and the team, but tonight we were beat by cheating, cynical, calculating scum who blackened the good name of football and soiled our park by appearing on its turf. I know you will get pumped in the next round by whoever you play Minsk, so **** off back to your government sponsored hovels and your part time jobs in the salt mines while you await your fate.

I am depressed as ****. My wee lad is crying himself to sleep. This sucks big logs.

same as my brother.

Absolutely gutted for him.

Feeling down myself today, work at 9 o'clock probably didnt help!

Although, I'd say it only strengthens the passion to get behind the team even more!

Cant see any posts about this but what happened when the guy got sent off? I was gutted and wasnt paying attention to their celebrations!

What was the story with the rogue sprinkler?

Can only presume that they are on a timer and that the expectation was that the game would be finished by then. They obviously didn't consider the risk that there may be extra time, but, they are probably on a timer similar to your home central heating where they will come on at the same time each day and just forgot about it

The groundsman had a total nightmare - a burst drain in the main stand had flooded the corridor through to the bottom of the stand, to the south of the dugouts.  I was sitting near there, and he spent the whole game with a wee pump trying to keep it under control, he was cream-crackered by the end of the match!  He clearly forgot about the sprinklers and was mighty embarrassed when they came on - he switched them off with the remote thingy - but his mind had understandably been elsewhere!  Guy turned up to fix it at half time, but couldn't get his van in because the game was ongoing.  He came in as soon as the match was over.  Felt really sorry for the groundsman all night, he never stopped!

Poor guy put in a great shift.

Seen him grafting during the whole game from where i was in the main stand.

Pity the sprinklers never came on a minute or two earlier...the minsk player faining injury in is own penalty box would have got to his feet sooner LAUGH OUT LOUD

The whole experience of the build-up and watching the game with family was fantastic.

The team gave it their all and then some.

I felt we tried to pass the ball into the net rather than someone having a shot.

Don't want to moan though, the players don't deserve it  after the effort they put in.

Applause to the fans in the corner of the east-stand.

My young nephew admired the way you all sang and cheered through the whole game.

It's going to be hard to convince him the next time that main stand is still the place to be. LAUGH OUT LOUD

Still gutted, feel like I have been hit by a 20 ton truck.

We were nearly through, we didn't need to score as long as we stopped them scoring.

I think we should have adopted a 4,5,1 formation as some point as the game went on. We just had to protect what we had and we were in the next round.

If they did sore after we went 4,5,1 we could always switch back.

I think we should do all we can to try and get a big crowd in for the R County game.

We have a decent chance of getting into the top 6 again and the players clearly react to a big home support.

Very proud of all concerned, its been a great journey and brought lots of fans back to the club.
