He should of stayed at saints for another season or two, he only played for the first team for one season and first decent chance he got he was off. He was still young and had plenty of time to develop his game and gain a big move, still cant believe celtic didint try to get him.

No saying he wouldn't have hit a goal drought or bad injury with us. Football is a short career ,so can't fault the guy for taking his chance.

Without being pedantic but he did play 23 times for us in the 2011/11 season. So he technically had two seasons in the first team.

without being pedantic is it the 2011/12 season or 2010/11 season you meant? ;-)

2010/11. He was on loan at Alloa in 2011/12.

Ive just seen my mistake, I'll argue the fact his first of those games was in January. So 2011/11 is technically correct...

Stevie just had his operation on Wednesday of this week and still faces another 9 months out.

Copied the following from Prestons forum. Nice to see most of them giving him good comments on there.

Let's hope his recovery all goes to plan from here.

Preston North End striker Stevie May has had surgery to repair the knee ligaments he damaged in November.

The Scotsman went under the knife in London on Wednesday and the operation went very well according to PNE boss Simon Grayson.

May, 23, damaged three ligaments in his right knee in the 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage on November 28, shortly after coming on as a substitute.

One of the ligaments has healed naturally after a period of rest and rehabilitation, with the surgeon able to concentrate on repairing the other two.

Grayson said: “Stevie went in on Wednesday for the operation and the surgeon was really pleased with how it went.

“At the time, he did damage to three ligaments, one of which has since healed itself which is great news.

“The other two had the work done to repair them, with one of those not needing as much work as first thought.

“It is still going to be six-nine months but the surgeon was pleased with the outcome.“That is good news for Stevie, he will get as much attention and care from everyone on his road to recovery.

“Six to nine months is the standard recovery time with the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) which has needed the most repair.

“He didn’t have the operation done a few weeks ago because they wanted him to have the time for the other ligament to repair by itself - if that one had needed work done, in the long-term it could have caused him problems.

“We are delighted that has healed naturally.”

Always get really sentimental about that beautiful man when we play Aberdeen. Definition of the word legend.

I  wholeheartedly agree! I don't think one man makes a team, but his goals against Aberdeen in the semi, and the subsequent singing back to Aberdeen 'who the F is Stevie May is right up there with our cup win.

I wish he had stayed longer..... but wish him well.... we as a club have much to be grateful to him for!?!?! :-)
