  4. I think sometimes we are all guilty of selling Saints short. In the past few years we have achieved top six finished, have won the Scottish Cup, been in Europe three seasons on the bounce, been in a few semi finals and consistently upset the odds. We have good training facillities, the players are well looked after and they know they will recieve their wages on a regular basis. We may not have the biggest support, but the players soon come to realise that whilst the support isnt the biggest, we are very passionate and good behind the team, especially away from home. I look at other teams like St Mirren and Kilmarnock who are a club consistently getting linked with takeovers, which isnt settling for anyone. Then you have your clubs like Partick and Dundee who not so long ago were in dire straits financially. Saints as a club are in a good spot and thankfully in Tommy Wright we have someone who is excellent at talking the club up to players whom we are hoping to extend their contracts and also those that we are trying to bring in.

  9. A friend and work colleague wrote a book all about the streets of Perth. A free PDF version is available from his website. It has loads of good pictures of the Fair City along with excellent information. The book is called Perth street by street and is available from the page I have linked below. http://madeinperth.org/perth-street-by-street/ Enjoy, Jazz

  20. Seems like Hearts fans think it will be a good bit of business for us - http://www.hmfckickback.co.uk/index.php?/topic/148489-brad-mckay-to-st-johnstone/page-2 Nice to see Tommy Wright beginning the process of freshening up the squad and bringing younger players in. Think we will see quite a few new faces next season.

  24. The terracing will not be opening, on official site. The seggregation barrier is being moved to accomodate well over 1000 away fans and there is a contingency plan in place should that not be enough, per info from Paul Smith this morning, we should all be together so will be able to create a great atmosphere. Looks like it will be adviseable to buy tickets in advance.

This is a great signing and potentially could prove to be as an important one as James Dunne last year. I hope we can make this a permanent signing as we should have done with Dunne. Welcome Danny.

  36. Just for info, from a QOS fan.. "I couldn't recommend buying a ticket in advance more if I tried. The ticket booth at the away section will be dealing with both sets of fans and is usually manned by two people. If there really is going to be 800 St Johnstone fans, in addition to ours then it could be chaos."

  37. Not worried that the game will be off, more the drive to the game if the weather is bad. I drive in crap weather enough for work, I tend to avoid it at weekends if possible. Plus I'm only just thawing out after Saturday at Motherwell

  42. Don't see the point of making a trip to Perth to get tickets when they are on sale on the day. Majority will get them down there. ETA - and the tickets are for seating, lots of people will be holding off hoping to get standing tickets on the day.

There are many examples of bizarre treatments from days of old....pretty sure the writers will have checked their historical facts before portraying the situation in their programme. Don't worry, they wont send you for electrical treatment if you get caught these days Larky

  49. Used to warm my hands on the boilerhoose wall on the way to school in the winter, my mother went to steamies on Thursdays wie the regulation auld pram. The cafeteria did a braw lettuce and tomato roll went there for my lunch when mother wis doing the wash, remember the big feckin roller that ironed the sheets the calendar it wis called steamie wifies put the sheets in one side and aw the wifies collected and folded their sheets and big items on the other side one hell of a experience to witness. Any younger generation reading this dinnae complain when you have to put a load in your fancy automatic washer, the steamies were akin to a feckin sweatshop because they had a certain amount of time to do their wash, then away hame wash four flights off stairs and the close then cook the tea feckin respect for my mother and all the other mothers that had to go through this soul destroying regime every week off their lives.

  50. My mum as I recall, took me to the steamie in Murray St/ Mill St . Went with the pram and had it fully laden. At that time there was funny restrictions like you were governed on the days you were allowed to take your rugs outdoors, to beat them ( no wall to wall carpets in those days). Living at 11 Stormont House/13 Atholl Street, we went down the North Inch where there were wooden posts with hooks on them, to hang a washing line. Rugs/carpets were beaten with a broad cane to remove the dust/stoor. Sure it was highlighted elsewhere, that the last remaining post, ( and was in the local press) was cut down as it was a H & S hazard. As one approached the North Inch from Barossa Place, these washing lines/posts were directly ahead.
