The Big Summer Transfer Window 2022 Thread

The balance of our squad is an absolute mess. We've brought in too many old players who are just here for their last payday, we don't bring through any of our own young players, we're overloaded in the attacking midfield area, we've signed wingers for a system that doesn't use wingers, we've wasted money by chucking transfer fees at players who don't or can't play, and the manager has done nothing to address the three areas (goalkeeper, CDM and centre forward) that are absolutely critical to us making any sort of improvement. On top of that we've chucked long term contracts at guys like Considine, Bair and Crawford, and sent a promising striker out on loan for the whole season (why??).

For the squad to be in this state when our manager has been with us for over two years is just completely unacceptable. Our success as a club has been built on having a consistent spine of players who understand the club, want to be here, are in it for the long term and only need to be supplemented with a small number of transfers each year to keep things fresh. Davidson has completely destroyed that ethos and turned us into a collection of journeymen, has-beens, crocks and other fringe players who are nowhere near good enough for the level we're playing at.

The damage Davidson has done to what previous managers had built here could take years to fix, and he needs to be removed immediately before he makes things even worse.

This , totally. Everything you’ve said nails the current position, the consistent spine under Tommy and to be fair managers before that meant while it wasn’t always great to watch you could at least see the plan.

The promising striker out on loan, it’s for the last year of his contract so purely a money saving exercise I imagine as Linfield probably paying half his wages ( guessing ).

Couldn't agree more. He inherited a great squad. Stumbled onto some success with players finding outrageous form but now is being found out.

No transfer strategy.

No plan B.

Has too many favourites.

Plays players out of position.

Too negative.

Could go on...

It's possible that he's a good coach/assistant but isn't cut out for a manager role.

Absolutely everything you said there is spot on and if we as mere fans can see it how on earth can a so called professional manager not??

He inherited the cup double squad,he didn't create it and IMO got lucky. He has absolutely destroyed this team and has no idea how to re-create it.

trying to play back 4 with unsuited players

Was definitely a 5 but Gilmour wasn’t doing much defensively (or attacking) so looked like a 4. Could argue the 4 would’ve suited Brown-Mahon-Considine-Montgomery more

Shades of sandy clark inherited a good sturrock squad, then got found out. Problem we have just now we need players in striker, defensive midfielder and a keeper, but do we really want to give Davidson the opportunity to make these signings, based on his previous good money going to bad in majority of cases, and he will just go to Biscuits Preston who is one of the biggest pricks going around Scottish football and is taking our club for a ride.

Please never mention Sandy Clark. Some dark days. I have PTSD.

We need a Goalie, midfielder and striker but is there the budget for that actually left, do we even work to a budget anymore ?

I m sure Davidson was saying we were done for outfield players last weekend.

Given the amount of money wasted over the last 6 months, I think I d rather we let a new manager make the 3 signings we need.

We ve a bunch of players not good enough on two year deals already, it’s going to either take some money or time to sort this mess out.

In the space of one year, all the good work previous managers have done over 15 years has been undone, the blame for that has to lie mainly with Davidson but why has he been allowed to do it.

Agree.

I reckon there is about 5 or 6 players in this squad that are good enough for the prem.
