jhq
We didn't sign him before he went to Hearts -he was here on loan. It's hard to believe we didn't extend his contract earlier but there must have been a reason. Sad to see him go, but no player is bigger than Saints. Smarmy Arab
Lets get this right.....you sign him on a deal till the end of the season, after impressing on a loan spell, and now he is leaving at the end of the season. Whats the problem exactly? Oh, he should stay till the end of next season? or the season after? Dear oh dear some of you are somewhat naive, and ignorant of the laws that govern employment contracts. This is like sailors complaining about the sea! All told this has been a good deal for Saints, he put a lot of points on the board and royally entertained whilst here, he owes Saints **** all but customary thanks and a handshake, fans and players just don't think the same way, you will be forever disappointed if you think players care the way fans do. ....if you wanted him to stay........Mr Brown should have signed him on a different deal...you know one that was longer than till the end of the season. I think the chairman did well to get him, and have no doubt he and TW will get another. Wendy Saints and SaintDougie
Dave H
Mixed feelings on Danny going. He was good to November. That was it. Clearly good skillful player, good to watch, but more often than not doesn't track back or loses the ball. Loads of goals, many this season from the spot, take them away and since November he's been distinctly average... He only turns up v Hearts and County, rarely winning a man of the match award hone or away on here Frustratingly hides in games when I feel he needs to shine.. His new employer (fans) won't tolerate that as much as we did.. However never his biggest admirer during both spells with us he will be regarded as a success in my eyes.. But certainly not a great player that some blue tinted specs make out. Aw the best lad... Can't wait for Foster v Swanson battles next season. If Danny isn't simply a bench player. Was thinking we'd had him on a short contract after he left Coventry for some reason. The Arab chap is obviously just trolling now.

I think the chairman did well to get him, and have no doubt he and TW will get another. Nobody cares about him joining Hibs. It's the fact hes strung the manager along for months, forcing us to hold back some of the budget next season in hope he re-signs (apparently Mannus has signed a PCA with Motherwell, arguably Swanson mucking us about has led to Mannus' wage being considered "cuttable"), forcing us to hold off approaching targets for next season and he's made the manager look foolish. If he'd said from the beginning that Hibs were his first choice then nobody could complain, instead he's been in the paper, and telling the manager, that we were his first choice. It's now being rumoured he actually agreed a deal with them in February but it wouldn't be signed until they got promoted, which means he's been stringing us along with no intention of signing for us unless Hibs failed to get promoted. It's shite behaviour, especially toward a manager who's twice saved him from sitting in a stand. HOODLUM65
When we signed Alston, Coulson,McKay and Shawknessy on pre contract agreements their clubs were all informed. Swanson is a shitebag. Like Graham before him. Have the latter two played for the Arabs?
MySpazz
1. Danny Swanson scored some goals, and has had the form of his career 2. Danny Swanson will not achieve the season he has had at SJFC ever again. THIS WAS HIS BEST EVER 3. We are well rid of a problem 4. MO'H, Rowan Vine + many more have used Saints to resurrect their career and then flounder thereafter. 5. He is a lifelong Hibee, Edinburgh boy etc..... I am very happy to see the back of him, his wage demands, his tantrums, his negative/petulant attitude and his "heart", which is clearly with the team he has supported as a boy: Hibernian. Or have you made that up? If Mann us was to be offered a deal, then it certainly would not have been on more money, so Swanon'so wage would have no bearing on it. Just as Swanson was free to talk to other parties while now contract was signed, so were Saints. If we then signed someone else we could have told him any contract offer was now off the table. The contract he was offered was as our highest earners. And TW has mentioned numerous times his main task was the renewal of his contract. He hasn't made any approaches for new players. If Swanson had said in February he was joining Hibs, we'd probably have at least one player already signed for next season.
garydavidson
Lennon says he is delighted with this latest signing and hopes to add more quality to his side before the start of next season. He said: "He was out of contract and we feel he has had a good season at St Johnstone. "He made it clear that even though St Johnstone were pressing to keep him he would like to come. "The deal is all but done and hopefully that will be the start of hopefully a few more that we are going to bring in." https://stv.tv/sport/football/1386715-lennon-swanson-will-add-creativeness-to-hibs-midfield/

I should really have added...."for one season wonders looking for a quick gig somewhere else". The annoying thing is that although we have an all round good team, it's players like Swanson, MOH, Fran etc that make a spark. Fair play to the club for acquiring these players that make a difference, but it would be nice to have a talented individual who bides their time and doesn't jump at the first move that comes about. Smarmy Arab
No problem with him signing a pre contract but it's the way he's gone about it -says it all about Swanson What a selfish bast*ard! Imagine getting to the footballing watershed that is 30 then weighing up the options and opting for whats best for career, family and bank balance....you'd think he would be happy to decline a grand a week pay rise and move to his home town just to show his current employer some loyalty. Heard this from fans for years, fans at every club.....every player is 1 game away from retirement they have every right to maximise their prospects in any way they can. If St Johnstone wanted Danny Swanson to stay longer they should have signed him on a longer deal....its really that simple!
